While I was in the mood I ripped into another one I had been sitting on for the same number of
years. Although these are relatively simple in composition they are testing in another way.
How do I simplify it such that it projects action and drama in a pure sense?
I think that is the essence of
this style. It doesn’t suit all
subjects yet is absolutely
bang-on perfect for a select
few. In painting when that
happens the painting flows off
the
end of the brush and it is ‘all
over red rover’.
The shadow was the all important
anchor for the action. Like a
big full stop.
